Patterns by Winnowing Designs

The Book Block was designed for a block swap in 1994. Twenty-four quilters traded blocks and made bookshelf quilts. Every quilt was different because the quilters stocked their "shelves" in their special ways and used different fabrics to "build the case." The block can be conventionally pieced or paper pieced. Templates and foundations for both methods are included. Designed by Chris Thresh.

The Bra Block is 12-inches by 12-inches finished size. Three different Bra Quilt designs are included in the pattern. Seven color pages make the instructions for the blocks and quilts very clear. The Bra Block is rotary cut, for the most part, with two templates for the bra cups (small and large). Designed by Chris Thresh.

Three dimensional butterflies in curves and arcs make this quilt a delight. The butterflies are secure in seams, not tacked on. Simple straight piecing is all that's required. Template pieced. The basic quilt block is 12" x 12" finished size. The dimensional butterflies are 3-1/2" x 3-1/2". Four botanical flower quilting motifs are included, too. Designed by Chris Thresh.

The Elephants Around block is a generous 24" x 24". Elephants gather around and their trunks form a traditional snail's trail block. Your purchase of this pattern will contribute 25¢ to the Elephant Sanctuary where old, sick, or needy elephants from zoos and circuses roam free. One block will make a fine wall hanging, while nine of them will make a nice throw quilt. The large block is template pieced. Family Gathering Tree quilts are made for memories. Family faces printed on fabric peek out from the leaves in the trees. The quilt above is 55" x 59" and has 61 family photos in the log cabin leaves.The pattern also includes a 45 "leaf" quilt and a 27 "leaf" quilt. You can make the size that's right for your family. There are two basic templates in the pattern and the rest of the patches are rotary cut.

What a dream -- your own cozy log cabin. The finished quilt is 39" x 39". It is hung on point. The Log Cabin in the Snow quilt pattern is conventionally pieced using templates for the cabin block and rotary strip cutting for the snow, sky, and trees.

This pattern has templates for the basic dog face, nose, shoulders, and background. And, paper piecing foundations are included too! You customize your block using fabric to match your dog's fur and then add the appropriate ears. Seven (7) ear templates and two tongue templates are included. The basic block is 6" x 8" finished.
