Notes: WOF means Width of Fabric. A 1/4" seam is assumed. This pattern uses a Large Flying Geese Ruler by Quilt-in-a-day to make Flying Geese blocks.
Suggestion: If you cut all your fabric ahead of time, put your pieces into bags or envelopes marked with their block number. That way you won’t get them mixed up.
Fabric Requirements
3/4 yd Background-
Cut (1) 12 ½" wide strip x the WOF. From that strip, cut (2) 12 ½" x 12 ½" squares for Block Five. Use the remainder of that strip to cut (1) 9 ½" x 9 ½" square for Block Three. - Cut (1) 5" wide strip x the WOF. From this strip, cut (2) 5" x 5" squares for Block One, (4) 5" x 5" squares for Block Two and (2) 5" x 5" squares for Block Four.
- Cut (1) 5 1/4" wide strip x the WOF. From this strip, cut (4) 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" squares for Block Two and (2) 5" x 5" squares for Block Four.

- Cut (1) 6 1/8" wide strip x the WOF. From this, cut (1) 6 1/8"" x 6 1/8" square for Block One. Use the remainder of that strip to cut (4) 4 ½" x 4 ½" squares for Block Two and (4) 4 ½" x 4 ½" squares for Block Four. (You may need to cut an additional 4 ½" wide strip.)

- Cut (1) 11" wide strip x the WOF. Cut this into (1) 11" x 11" square for Block Three. From the remainder of that strip, cut (4) 5" x 5" squares for Block Two and (4) 5" x 5" squares for Block Four.

- Cut (1) 4 ½" wide strip x WOF. Cut this into (4) 4 ½" x 4 ½" squares for Block Four.
(7/8 yd with border)- Cut (1) 11" wide strip x WOF. Cut this strip into (1) 11" x 11" square and (1) 9 ½" x 9 ½" square for Block Three
- OPTIONAL BORDER: Cut (1) strip 7" wide x WOF and (3) strips 3 ½" wide x WOF. From the 7" wide strip, cut (2) 6 3/4" x 6 3/4" squares. Cut the remaining strip in half, making a total of (5) strips that are 3 1/2" wide.
